Please note that OCTEC's internet setup is undergoing changes - in the past, OCTEC used a proxy server as part of our web surfing system, but this is being phased out. To view our web site, all of our dial-up users should turn off proxy settings within their browser.

Here are the steps for doing this in two popular browsers, please contact OCTEC IT Dept for further assistance.

For INTERNET EXPLORER:

1. Open Internet Explorer and click on the TOOLS menu, then click on the INTERNET OPTIONS menu item. The INTERNET OPTIONS window will open.

2. Click on the CONNECTIONS tab at the top of the window.

3. Click the SETTINGS button on the right of the window and the OCTEC SETTINGS window will open.

4. UNTICK the box next to the words "Use a proxy server for this connection".

5. Click OK at the bottom of this window and on the INTERNET OPTIONS window, then close Internet Explorer.

6. Re-open Internet Explorer.


For MOZILLA FIREFOX

1. Open Firefox and click on the TOOLS menu, then on the OPTIONS menu item. The OPTIONS window will open.

2. Click on the ADVANCED button, then on the NETWORK tab, then on the SETTINGS button.

3. Click on the radio button next to the words "Direct connection to the internet" and click the OK button at the bottom.

4. Close then re-open Firefox.
