Caleb was willing to give anything a try when he came to OCTEC Transition to Work (TtW)<\/a> Shellharbour in search of finding steady and stable work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 24-year-old faced barriers, but was determined not to be defined by them. Career Consultant Storm Dallas worked with Caleb worked with to develop an action plan, so he could re-focus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transport posed a significant barrier for Caleb, particularly for the roles he wanted to apply for. He was close to getting his provisional licence, Storm advised Caleb to track his driving progress and treat it as another important goal. OCTEC assisted Caleb with driving lessons to help him gain his provisional licence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caleb submitted job applications but wasn\u2019t hearing back from employers. While having work experience and skills in the hospitality and retail sectors, Caleb wanted to find work where he could learn and grow. He was particularly interested in warehousing and construction industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Storm utilised the local OCTEC team\u2019s professional relationship with Phill Jones Insulation Specialists, following up an opening for a new installer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several interviews were arranged with owners Karen and Phill at OCTEC TtW Shellharbour to meet and interview participants. Caleb attended, with his presentation and interview manner greatly impressing them. He was offered the position on the spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before starting his new role, Storm ensured Caleb had sufficient workwear for the job. Phill and Karen were set up with an OCTEC Biz Support package.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A year on, Storm continues to provide weekly post-placement support to ensure everything runs smoothly. Caleb is performing well in his role, maintaining excellent progress in 35-hour work weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
